Open Day 

Overview

Life builders Initiative NGO had carried out several intervention programs in IDP camps/communities in the area of Medical support. This effort towards assisting the vulnerable has been on since the emergence of this organization and has since been living to its mandate in reducing poverty and impacting lives of the poor in camps/communities in and around the FCT. Some of the areas where our organizations have carried out medical outreaches in partnership with volunteer doctors and other NGOs includes Wassa, Kuje, Orozo, Kabusa, Area 1, New Kuchingoro, Kutara/Tataradna etc.

VISIT TO WASSA COMMUNITY

The Wassa community has the challenge of accessing medical services as it is a distance from the nearest town. Life Builders Initiative NGO successfully mobilized a team of medical personnel, volunteers, non-governmental organizations and health institutions, to attend medically to no fewer than 500 residents of Wassa IDP camp. Over 100 children between 0-5 years, 382 women, and 99 men were reached out to. Aside this, Life Builders have also provided 400 IDP ID card to enable them go about their legitimate Life as citizens without harassment and intimidation in the hands of security operatives giving to their vulnerability as an IDP in Abuja. In 2018, LBI revisited with the team of Medics for another medical outreach.

VISIT TO PEGI

Another successful Open Day/Medical Outreach was organized by Life Builders Initiative NGO on Saturday 25th, June 2016, the venue was Pegi Village in Kuje IDP Camp. This outreach was conducted in partnership with the Nigerian Turkish International College Foundation (NTICF) and Development Initiative for Community Enhancement (DICE). No fewer than 150 women received personalized medical services and appropriate drugs prescribed for their ailments. About 100 also received medical attention and free educational materials. Up to 50 men from the community also were in attendance who benefited from the free medical services. Food stuff was equally donated to the people.

VISIT TO OROZO IDP CAMP/COMMUNITY

In continuation of our Medical Outreach in meeting the health need of the people of the poor, Life Builders Initiative organized an Open Day/Medical Outreach in Orozo. As a proactive measure and in line with our goal aimed at improving the life of the poor in the rural areas. Medical Outreach/Economic Empowerment program was held on Friday, July 29, 2016 for the Orozo IDPs in collaboration with 30 Corps members of the NYSC SDGs Skills and Advocacy Sub group. They engaged the people on how to make money by training them on skills like production of Air freshener, Bleach, Insecticides, Disinfectant, Liquid soap and Powder detergent to enable them fend for themselves. A total number of 75 internally displaced persons from the Orozo Community were attended to during the medical outreach, while 61 persons participated in the economic empowerment program.

VISIT TO NEW KUCHIGORO IDP CAMP AND CAMP DAVID

Yearly, LBI Medics conduct medical outreaches at our primary beneficiary communities which are New Kuchigoro IDP Community and Camp David – which serves Dagwa and several neighboring communities and area 1 IDP camp. .

VISIT TO KUTARA/TATARADNATY

In partnership with TY Danjuma Foundation, LBI Medics, organized a medical outreach at Kutara/Tataradna community in Nassarawa State.  Where there was a Massive turn out of community members at the medical open day outreach  and the team also Coordinated the labor and delivery of a beautiful baby girl of the wife of the vice chairman of the community who was found to be in labor in her house.
